What's for dinner?

Maybe pesto and veggie pasta? Sounds great to me! The tomato harvest is finally here, and with 7 plants, soon our kitchen will be buried in them! I'm going to try freezing tomato sauce this year -- after I get tired of Italian tomato soup, salsa, and Caprese salad.

I'm jealous! I have one Roma that is FINALLY starting to get red...but all the others on our 2 plants are as green as green can be. Maybe when the rain stops this weekend.-h

I agree with gabe &amp. i only have one red(ish) tomato - the rest are all still candy-apple green. yikes! What's your secret Carley?!

My secret: lots of sun, good soil, keep it well watered in July, and give your plants lots of love. I love my tomato plants, yes, I said it.

Have you tried making homemade salsa?

I made pico de gallo the other night to eat with quesadillas - yum. Also, I've made sun-dried (oven dried, actually) tomatoes, and I've now frozen ~8 2-cup portions of diced/skinned tomatoes for future use.
So far, I've managed to pick and find a use for 50+ lbs of tomatoes, and I'm wondering if I might hit 100 lbs when the season is over (maybe). My lucky lab-mates get tomatoes each week, as well!
